"It's rare to feel a thread of concentrated energy through an entire concert - not an easy feat for musicians to achieve - but the Woolf Quartet... succeeded in doing just this." (The Cross-Eyed Pianist)
Beethoven's anguished 'Serioso' opens a programme that bridges centuries: Dobrinka Tabakova's vivid contemporary writing and a brand-new work from the quartet themselves precede Mendelssohn's turbulent, deeply personal A minor Quartet. A vibrant calling-card from a young ensemble already earning praise for its concentrated, communicative energy.
This concert is generously supported by the Idlewild Trust.
